02.23.10 | 2010 State of the Tribes Address

The St. Croix Chippewa tribal chairman Lewis Taylor delivered the sixth annual State of the Tribes address to the State Legislature on February 23. 2010. Lewis Taylor delivered the speech Tuesday morning before a joint session of the Assembly and Senate. The address focused on the status of the 11 tribal reservations in the state. Ceremonies leading up to the address will include an American Indian drum and honor song, a ceremonial procession outside the State Capitol and an invocation.

02.24.09 | 2009 State of the Tribes Address

The 2009 State of the Tribes Address was given in front of a joint session in the Assembly Chambers at the State Capitol on February 24, 2009. The address was given by Sokaogon Chippewa Chairman Arlyn Ackley. Also speaking at the event were David Grigno, Director of Historical Preservation for the Menomonie Tribe, who provided the invocation and Summer Gokey, Lac Courte Oreilles High School Senior, who gave the Pledge of Allegiance and Ojibwe Prayer.
